One thing that’s weird; after the first Run, I can’t get it to generate any tone on subsequent runs.

Very nice!
Any chance you could point those interested in the code implementation at some classes (Apple or otherwise) you looked at in order to get your tone generator rolling?
I’ve been wanting to get into some custom QC patch programming and this maybe a cool first porject. It sounds somewhat simple (on paper) but atm I am a bit overwhelmed with the sheer mass of Apple’s frameworks… so a starting point would definately help, if you don’t mind :)

I’m using CoreAudio framework. You will find a lot of tutorials at cocoadev. I used some of these to get the plugin working.
